Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth at the first ever volunteer fair on Monday, February 27. We enjoyed meeting lots of Page County citizens, discussing gardening, sustainability, self sufficiency, the farm, the community and many other topics.
Sustainable Shenandoah, one of our partners, is currently growing seedlings and planning its 2012 garden. The garden has expanded in size and has been moved behind the barn, down nearer to the White House, in the rich bottomland.
At the event, Stephen Adler spoke about the benefits of gardening including exercise, getting outside, participating with a fun community group and exchanging information about old-fashioned, chemical-free gardening and growing open pollinated varieties. For more information about Sustainable Shenandoah (and to volunteer!) , contact garden coordinator Sharron Burgess at email@example.com and check out their website here.
